Accessify Play is an advanced NVDA screen reader add-on designed to transform how visually impaired users interact with Spotify. Built to bypass the often cumbersome and inaccessible native desktop and web interfaces, this add-on empowers users to control Spotify playback across any device—whether it is a PC, phone, or smart speaker—directly through global keyboard shortcuts.

  • Real-Time Lyrics Support: Integrates seamlessly with the open-source lrclib.net API to provide accessible lyrics. Users can choose between a manual Lyrics Window for line-by-line reading or the Auto Lyric Reading mode, which synchronizes with the track and reads lyrics aloud in real-time.
  • Dedicated Command Layer: Employs a specific command layer design to ensure playback controls, queue management, and navigation remain efficient without conflicting with standard system shortcuts.

System Requirements

  • Screen Reader: NVDA version 2025.1 or newer.
  • Account: An active Spotify Premium subscription is strictly required, as the Spotify Web API limits playback control access exclusively to Premium accounts.
  • Initial Setup: Requires a one-time manual configuration to register a Web API application on the Spotify Developer Dashboard to obtain a Client ID and Client Secret.
