EZ Convert is a lightweight, screen-reader friendly utility application designed to help you quickly convert video files to audio, or combine audio and images into a video (slideshow). It is built specifically to be 100% compatible with screen readers like NVDA and JAWS.

Features

  • Video to Audio: Extract audio (MP3, WAV, AAC, FLAC) from video files.
  • Audio & Images to Video: Create a video by combining an audio file with one or multiple images (slideshow).
  • Auto-FFmpeg: Automatically downloads necessary components on the first run.
  • 100% Accessible UI: Fully keyboard navigable and explicitly labeled for screen readers, complete with spoken feedback.

How to Use EZ Convert

When you open the application, it has two main modes (Tabs) that you can switch between using Ctrl + Tab.

Mode 1: Convert Video to Audio

Use this mode if you have a video file (like MP4) and you just want the sound from it (like MP3).

  1. Press Tab to navigate to Select Input Video File, then press Space or Enter on the Browse Video... button to select your video file.
  2. Press Tab to go to the Select Output Audio Format Combo Box. Use your Up/Down Arrow keys to choose your desired audio format (e.g., MP3 or WAV).
  3. Press Tab to navigate to Save Audio Output As, then press Space on the Save Audio... button to choose where you want to save the new audio file and what to name it.
  4. Press Tab until you reach the Start Audio Extraction Button and press Enter.
  5. Wait for the progress bar to finish! You will hear a success message when it's done.

Mode 2: Convert Audio & Images to Video (Slideshow Mode)

Use this mode if you have an audio file (like a podcast or song) and you want to upload it to a video platform like YouTube by adding a picture (or multiple pictures) to it.

  1. Switch to this tab by pressing Ctrl + Tab.
  2. Press Tab to reach the Add Images Button and press Space.
    • Single Image: Select one image to have a static background.
    • Slideshow: Select multiple images (using Ctrl or Shift + Arrow keys) to create an automated slideshow.
  3. Reordering Images (Important): If you selected multiple images, they will appear in the Selected Images List. You can reorder them so they appear in the correct sequence in the video:
    • Select an image in the list.
    • Shortcut: Hold Alt and press Up Arrow or Down Arrow to move the image up or down. NVDA will immediately announce its new position!
    • Alternatively, you can Tab to the Move Up and Move Down buttons below the list.
  4. Press Tab to reach the Duration per image (seconds) box and type a number (e.g., 6 means the picture will change every 6 seconds). Note: The very last image in your list will automatically stay on screen until the audio completely finishes, so your video will never be cut off early!
  5. Press Tab to select your Input Audio File.
  6. Press Tab to choose your Output Video Format from the combo box (e.g., MP4).
  7. Press Tab to select Save Video Output As and choose where to save the final video.
  8. Press Tab to reach the Start Video Creation Button and press Enter.

Notes

  • First Launch: The very first time you open the application, it will silently download a background tool called FFmpeg. Just wait a moment until the status says "Ready to use".
  • Navigation: Always use the Tab key to move between buttons and boxes. The screen reader will read exactly what each box does.
